Global Wildfire Experts Unite at OroraTech’s International Wildfire Conference

AUGSBURG, Germany, October 10th, 2024 – OroraTech successfully hosted its annual International Wildfire Conference in Augsburg, Germany, bringing together leading voices from the wildfire research, detection, management, and mitigation community. The event gathered firefighters, scientists, innovators, and government representatives together to discuss the latest challenges and breakthroughs in technology for the industry, sharing their individual fire expertise. This included representatives from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Bushfire Research Center of Excellence at the Australian National University, the U.S. Forest Service in Mozambique, and many more.

At the core of the conference was OroraTech’s mission to foster collaboration and provide actionable, data-driven solutions for combating the escalating threat of wildfires. As the impact of wildfires continues to grow worldwide, this event focused on addressing these urgent challenges by exploring the latest advancements in satellite technology, real-time fire monitoring, and risk assessment.

"Collaborating with experts from around the world is essential to improving our wildfire strategies,” says conference speaker Dr. Dante Corti, Fire Central Engineer of ARAUCO Chile. “Seeing presentations from Australia, Mozambique, Greece, the United States, and everywhere else really gives you a full picture of how the world is fighting wildfire. I loved sharing my experience with the conference, and the knowledge I gained was invaluable."

Experts from various sectors—including emergency services, government agencies, commercial forestry, and Earth observation—shared insights and strategies for improving wildfire management. Through cutting-edge technology and collaboration, the conference highlighted innovative approaches that will shape the future of wildfire detection and protection.

As well as meeting other participants, the attendees also had the opportunity to engage with the developers of Wildfire Solution, OroraTech’s flagship wildfire management platform. These sorts of interactions between product developers and users allow the continuous development of features required by on-the-ground wildfire practitioners.

“Collaboration is the cornerstone of every fire emergency response. It should be the same with the tools we use," says conference speaker Zisoula Ntasiou, Fire Colonel of the Hellenic Fire Corps. “At this conference, we experienced how innovative technology teams can work to support firefighters and managers working on the ground. With these two together, we can make a real impact in Greece and far beyond, ensuring faster and smarter decisions that protect lives and nature.”

The International Wildfire Conference underscores OroraTech’s commitment to protecting communities and natural resources from the devastating effects of wildfires. By bringing together global experts, the event aimed to accelerate the adoption of advanced solutions that improve preparedness, reduce risks, and ultimately save lives.
