OroraTech has successfully achieved the mission goals for FOREST-1, its first satellite dedicated to environmental monitoring, specifically for wildfire detection.
Rosenbauer, a worldwide leading fire-service vehicles and firefighting equipment manufacturer, and OroraTech, a leading digital wildfire intelligence service, have entered a strategic partnership to combat the emerging problem of wildfires by means of satellite systems.
On Thursday, March 3rd, Coordinator for German Aerospace Dr. Anna Christmann, along with Dieter Janeck, the economic policy spokesperson for the Green Party, visited the new office of NewSpace start-up OroraTech in Munich East, where they saw the progress in satellite development.
OroraTech has hit the ground running in 2022, with the launch in January of not only its first CubeSat but also an InCubed co-funded activity to begin developing its successor platform and payload. The satellites’ dedicated remote-sensing capabilities will enable the Munich-based company to enhance its established wildfire detection and monitoring services.
Today, OroraTech has taken a crucial step by launching their first thermal-infrared camera, designed to quickly capture and transmit critical information to decision makers on the ground. The data will be integrated with their existing wildfire intelligence service, significantly enhancing detection speed and precision for clients around the globe. Over the coming years, the company’s space-based cameras will provide new and improved insights for the mitigation of natural disasters.
The Green Triangle Fire Alliance (GTFA) has signed a pilot contract for OroraTech’s satellite-based Wildfire Intelligence Service over the 2021/22 fire season.
OroraTech was named the winner of The Spark – German Digital Award presented by Handelsblatt and McKinsey.
