11th October 2023 – Munich, Germany — OroraTech, the thermal-infrared data intelligence company, today announced the extension of its management board. To date, OroraTech has achieved excellent go-to-market success with commercial and governmental clients, and the newly appointed management board will support its continued rapid growth.
Dr Martin Langer has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of OroraTech, taking over from Co-Founder Thomas Grübler, who continues as Chief Strategy Officer.
Dr Martin Langer was the third employee to join OroraTech in 2019. As CTO, he managed the company’s technical development and defined its technology roadmap and vision. As an accomplished Aerospace Engineer with over 15 years of experience and a doctoral degree, Dr Langer has led the development of several innovative products and services that helped the company grow and succeed. In addition to his technical capabilities, he has shown a deep understanding of the company’s business and is committed to driving growth and profitability. He is also a passionate advocate for the company’s culture and values.
Dr Martin Langer, the new CEO of OroraTech, said, ” I am delighted to have been appointed to lead our stellar team. OroraTech has a great reputation for supporting sustainability and an impressive footprint. This year, we have seen accelerated growth fuelled by growing customer demand and have built our strong product portfolio.
I will continue to broaden and strengthen our operational capabilities to deliver and expand our market leadership around thermal-infrared intelligence. There is considerable potential and need for our technology and data intelligence worldwide.”
With this change, Dr Axel Roenneke, Chief Commercial Officer, and Viktor Gauk, Chief Financial Officer, will also be appointed Managing Directors. Thomas Grübler will remain as Managing Director and will become OroraTech’s new Chief Strategy Officer, focusing on the execution of strategic initiatives and further internationalisation of OroraTech.
Co-founder and newly appointed Chief Strategy Officer Thomas Grübler said,” I am very proud of the progress we have made over the past year. We will be tripling last year’s revenue and, more importantly, we have defied the impossible by launching two sensors into space to help monitor wildfires and foster climate resilience. It’s time to broaden our leadership team to enable OroraTech to grow even further. Martin’s vast industry experience, strategic mindset, and leadership are the ideal fit for the next stage of our mission.”
Having received €15M Series A funding last year, the OroraTech team has grown significantly to 90 professionals and expanded beyond its headquarters in Germany with experts based in Brazil, Canada, and Australia.
Notable achievements this past year include the further expansion of its proprietary spaceborne thermal sensor network with the launch of FOREST-2 (Fire Observation and Remote Sensing Technology), alongside contracts with the Canadian and European Space Agency and the Forestry Corporation of New South Wales (FCNSW) for wildfire detection.
The new management team refinement will enable OroraTech to further scale internationally in North America and the APAC region to foster climate change resilience. OroraTech strives to continue breaking the barriers of Earth observation by fusing predictive AI capabilities with an expanding spaceborne sensor network.
