Senior Project Manager Satellites (m/f/d)

The Mission

At OroraTech, your mission as a Senior Project Manager Satellites will be to drive the successful implementation of our advanced satellite network.As part of our Project Management Office, you will lead and oversee projects from conception to commission, working closely with a diverse and talented team to meet the needs of our clients and partners, such as the European Space Agency or National Space Agencies. You’ll ensure smooth coordination across departments, manage risks, and deliver quality results.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage space projects end-to-end, from Phase A to Operations.
  • Manage project execution, track progress, handle change management, and proactively resolve issues.
  • Prepare and coordinate meetings, reviews, and workshops.
  • Oversee project profitability, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.
  • Develop project documentation, establish a project plan with scope, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Conduct reviews to assess outcomes and capture lessons for continuous improvement.
  • Lead a global, often virtual, team of suppliers, engineers, and production members while fostering strong customer relationships.
  • Coordinate team efforts, ensuring clear goals, effective communication, and collaboration with clients and partners.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables, ensuring contract obligations are met.
  • Maintain regular communication internally and with the customer, ensuring timely updates and cooperation.
  • Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, lead change management, and negotiate with both internal teams and the customer.

Relevant Skills

  • University degree in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Mechanical or related fields.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience managing complex space/defence projects, ideally within custom manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in the Space/Defence industry and management of projects with government agencies and institutions (ESA, DLR, etc).
  • Knowledge of space systems, standards (tailoring for New Space projects) and practices.
  • Understanding of the ground segment chain is an asset.
  • Familiarity with project economics and risk management.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach to team building, coordination and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in other languages, especially German, is a plus.
  • PMP or IPMA2 certification is an advantage.
