Yellow Lake fire

Utah, USA · September 28, 2024

About

Burning through 31,000 acres in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, the Yellow Lake Fire was fueled by hot, dry conditions and high winds. The fire spread rapidly, with over 800 personnel working to contain it. OroraTech tracked the fire from its first hotspots, running spread simulations to assess risks. The region’s bark beetle infestation also played a role, leaving behind dead, dry trees that intensified the fire’s severity.
